The Dinagat Islands are known for their mystic and beauty. Located north of Mindanao, the capitol city is San Jose. Although it is small in size, there are numerous natural wonders. Within the interior are some waterfalls. Also, there are a number of beaches along the coastline of Cagdianao. In addition there is a bat sanctuary in Tubajon and a bonsai forest in the town of Loreto. This a beautiful place that is dominated by the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association (PBMA). This non-profit organization was founded in 1965 by Ruben Ecleo Sr. When approaching San Jose by boat, you will see a castle like structure overlooking the city; sometimes called the “White Castle” or “Island Castle,” this is the home of the Ecleo family. Located nearby is the final resting place of Ruben Ecleo Sr(PBMA Shrine.) To this day, the shrine continues to be a popular point-of-interest.
